Following the success of last year’s competition, we’re pleased to announce the details for the 2011 Transitions Online photo competition.
Categories
You can enter your photographs under four categories.
•Politics and democracy
•Business and economy
•Everyday life
•Arts & culture
If you’re looking for inspiration, have a look at www.tol.org . Our coverage may give you some ideas of interesting topics.
Scope
Photographs must be taken within Transitions Online’s coverage region, which comprises Central Europe & the Baltic states; Eastern Europe & Russia; Southeastern Europe; Central Asia; and the Caucasus.
Prizes
There will be one first prize and three prizes for runners up.
•First prize €200
•Runners up €50
Eligibility
The competition is open to everyone, of all ages and from all countries. Entries from amateurs and professionals alike are equally welcome. Each entrant may submit up to four photographs, but no entrant may win more than one prize.
How to enter
1.Entries should have a short description of what the photograph shows, where it was taken, the date it was taken and why it is relevant to the competition.
2.You should submit your full name and contact details: address, email address, telephone number.
3.Photographs must be submitted in digital format, as a JPEG file no larger than 3MB, and sent to photo@tol.org . (If you experience problems sending your picture via email, you can also send it to the address below on a CD-Rom with your name and email on the disc).
Note: Entries not meeting these requirements may be excluded.
Rights
By entering the competition, you agree that you own the rights to the photographs that you submit. Transitions recognizes that you own the copyright to your pictures. But by submitting your photographs you agree that Transitions has the right to publish the photos on its websites and at its events free of charge, as long as it credits you as the photographer.
Closing date
The closing date is December 15, 2011. The winners will be announced no later than January 31, 2012 and the best entries will be published on the tol.org website.
